Let me start by saying that this is the 5th digital camera that I have used in my life. What I look for in a digital camera is one that can easily be used out of the box, without having to start fiddling with all the settings. I bought the Sony DSC-H20 based on the mostly positive reviews here on Amazon and based on another family member buying a Sony (not this model) and saying that they loved it.

Frankly, I can’t see why people give this camera such glowing reviews. Pictures in intelligent mode with the flash on came out with colors way off. I took a picture of a maroon red pair of shorts, and they came out looking light red - almost pink. When I turned the flash off, I got a much better picture, but still nowhere near as good as the pictures I used to get on my Kodak Z1015IS. And besides, the whole point of intelligent mode is so the user shouldn’t have to play around with the camera to find the right settings for every shot. I also found that the camera insisted on using the flash outdoors on a sunny day in intelligent mode, which again made the pictures come out with the wrong color.

In short, compared to Kodak cameras, the picture quality of this camera doesn’t even come close. If you care about the colors being correct, I would stay away from this camera.

We purchased this camera and I was so excited to start using it. We received it quickly from Amazon. Opened the box, installed the memory we purchased and started shooting pictures. While the camera took pretty decent pictures, the viewer showed the pictures upside down and the landscape photos in portrait.

Unfortunately, after 2 attempts with the customer service/support at Sony, they told me it was broken and to send it in for warranty repair.

After spending over $200 and having it 2 days, I was not getting a repaired camera. I felt they should of offered to send me a new replacement.

Went back to Amazon to exchange and no more in stock at that price so return is my only option. Now I have a Sony Cybershot case and memory for that camera but no camera.

    Extremelhy Disappointed!

will not purchase another Sony product.

  3. For the folks that claimed to have taken good pictures at low light with this camera, they must be using a vastly different version. This camera had more grain in pictures than I have ever seen. These weren’t even night time, just indoors on a cloudy day with lights on in the house. And it didn’t matter what mode I put it in, Flash or no Flash, 10mp , 5mp, Auto, Intelligent Auto. I was willing to put up with the cheap lens cap, and the not really wide enough angle on the lens, if and only if, it would take good pictures indoors, under normal lighting. I have a modern house I designed (which means all white walls), well with this camera they aren’t white, so much as a sea of gray specks and grain. Horrible, guess I will try the Panasonic or save for the Canon G11…Also every picture where my kids moved so much of an inch was incredibly blurry.

I tested couple of cameras at home including canon. I found that this camera takes very good pictures. I’m very happy with this camera. The zoon is cool.

  5. the camera is good except that when i give it to anyone else to take a picture, they don’t press the click button halfway down to stabilize the image, so always a blurry picture. i didn’t see where the settings were to change it.
