Canon Powershot SD1000 Digital Camera Review

This review was done on the SD1000. The vidoe res. would be better but it had to be converted twice. I suggest looking at the tigerdirectblog youtube review and the (www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_sd1000-review/) text review for this camera as well. Those will give you just about all you need to know to feel great about purchasing this camera.

  3. pyrioni says:

    thanks!

They also sell the SD1000 on some websites.

  5. rogoobeer says:

    i learned how to zoom
    great video !!!

  6. jumpwedge says:

Virtually the same. The corners are a little more contoured and it has image stabilization. Probably both upgrade features.

  7. liviti says:

man i loved this camera. lost it in dubai :( can’t find it anywhere now, is the sd1100 much different?

  8. jumpwedge says:

Check the manual or move the black switch on the back all the way down and press the round button on top. Press the round button again to stop the filming.

  9. mileysvideos says:

how do you make a video on it? i bought it last week and i cant figure out how

  10. RetroFingerboards says:

Does it have it like a video camera? where you can pause the video and then un pause it but its all in one video? i am looking for one like that because i dont want a big huge thing to cary around

  11. eddyr78 says:

Well the SD 1100 Does have image stabilization And its 8 mega pixels which doesn’t really make a difference unless your going to blow up your pics into portraits. I have the SD1000 its really great. good Picture quality. Also from the reviews the SD100O has better performance than the SD1100 In start up time and shutter speed

  12. xoxlailabearxox says:

alrightt, thanks for all your help! i think i’m just going to get the sd1100 because i like the style

  13. jumpwedge says:

Yes, I guess. But I am pretty sure that every camera does. Low-light-no-flash is about the crummiest shooting/lighting scenario.

  14. xoxlailabearxox says:

ohh, well that helps. my sd630 had blurry images in low light without flash. does this camera do that too?

  15. jumpwedge says:

IS doesn’t work/function in video mode even if the camera has IS. It is only a picture mode feature.

  16. xoxlailabearxox says:

thanks, but what about when you’re taking a video without IS? I saw some sample videos without IS on the SD1000 and it’s a little shaky. i’m just trying to get a great camera because i had a SD630 and i dropped it in the water, sadly

  17. jumpwedge says:

Your right. You are basically paying extra for IS. I think the pics look great with the 1000 (no IS) so I wouldn’t pay the extra. But the camera is a little sleeker and IS is an upgrade feature. Your getting the best either way.

  18. xoxlailabearxox says:

is this better than the SD1100? i can’t decide which to buy because the other one looks nicer and has IS but it’s more expensive. can you help me?

  19. jumpwedge says:

Technically no but it does have a color intensifier setting and a color swap setting.

  20. puressences says:

does this camera have colour filters?! and if so, what colours?

  21. wiggles2501 says:

thank you so much for that review,
you totally reassured my decission on
    which camera to buy.
do you have any idea where i could get
one w/ the black rim instead of the silver
    one ??
    (:

  22. jumpwedge says:

I guess that lens error happens if you say so. “Bang it real hard” great idea.

  23. allaboutweave says:

Loved my SD1000 when I bought it and used it all the time for a few months. Then suddenly I got a lens error. Found many postings of people complaining about lens errors that occur suddenly. Solution? Bang it really hard. Great that worked, for a month. Now, out of the blue, I’m unable to download the pics off the camera (still looking online for a solution but it is NOT the memory card and NOT the upload software). Sadly, this product did not live up to my expectations for quality.

  24. oikimio says:

thanks for the review! i was contemplating one of these back in january, but went with a casio exilim (which i thought was a good deal, but changed my mind on) regrettably. i just purchased an sd1000 yesterday from sears on clearance and i think i will be very pleased with the quality.

  25. TheWelcomeChange says:

This is a wonderful review, i think this will be the deciding factor for me buying this camera.
    So thanks to you!
